“Navigating the Cybersecurity Career Path” was released late 2021. You can find it here.

There are three sections to the book: Arriving in Security; Thriving in Security; and Leading Security. I wrote the book so I could share my thoughts with a wide audience. I hope readers will take away some tips on how to be successful working in security, from the start of their security career to the end.

In “Arriving”, I talk about how to get into security - how to decide what part of security to work in, what training to take, how to build a resume, how networking will open doors that a resume alone won’t.

In “Thriving”, I discuss how to deal with the challenges of working in security - managing your manager, being a minority, how to manage security stress, whether to become a manager, and how to know when it’s time to leave a job.

In “Leading”, I give advice to first time security leaders - where to start, how to build a security strategy, how to build a diverse team, how to fund your strategy, and how to talk about security so people will listen.
